Short Bio

Anna Corso is a visual artist with a focus in printmaking, collaborative and ecologically minded installation. Often with poetic accompaniment, she uses subconscious and sensory experiences as sources of inspiration for her printed and sculptural work, creating a varied body of pieces- from abstract, to representational, to a mix of the two. Her work’s themes explore our emotions in a world within the natural, the false reliability of memory, healing through trauma, and the place of the individual in an impermanent reality. "There is a need within us to find comfort and consistency which truly does not exist- except between ourselves. Even then this is not the case, as we are constantly changing and adjusting to our surroundings. In short, the only certainty guaranteed is the present, the moment a work is created, a smile given, a single feeling."

Anna is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz with a BFA in printmaking. She is also currently working part time as a tattoo artist, and is a freelance model for art projects.

Theme

Anna's work is driven by the fragility of humanity and the lasting strength of our emotions. She creates work with an intent to heal and attend to the present, to bridge the gap between our presence in the natural world, our physical bodies and the relationship between the personal, universal, and subconscious.
